The Internet & children: Still Scary
Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at 10:09AM DuctTape Marketing blogged today asking the question, How do so many children spend so many hours unescorted on the Internet. As readers of GiveitaKiss The Family Blog know this is a topic very close to our hearts. Of course, our children react like it's some form of abuse if you don't allow your child at least double digit hours per day of unbridled time on MySpace. OK, double digits is sarcastic but parents know the reaction from children is not. As parents of ten children, five of them daughters, the Internet is a very scary place. I thank Zane Safrit and Duct Tape Marketing for bringing the issue up to keep Internet safety for children at the forefront. At our home we have installed software on our computers so we know what our children are doing online and they all know and accept it. One Internet stalker-like scare was enough for us when an almost adult male wanted to come to our home and whisk our underage daughter off to a "better life." Of course we don't monitor their every conversation but we watch for warning signs, our kids watch what they do online and we all sleep better at night. We have done extensive reviews of five of the top Internet safety software products on our website and have made them all available on our Interet Safety page. We continue to blog about about the dangers because

Thank you to parents and our readers
Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at 10:44PM Thank you for reading our Internet Software Reviews even though we're not quite finished yet. Our first major posts were all about online Internet safety to protect our children from sexual predators, pornography and more while they (hopefully) surf the net in innocence. Having faced a situation in our own home we could not think of something we wanted to do more than share about what we have learned by checking out all of these programs. We are parents who faced a scare of a child possibly being stalked by someone who had very wrong intentions. We checked out all of the programs listed along with at least one other. By taking a lot of notes and checking out out all of these products we

Internet Safety Product Review - CSWeb
Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at 09:43PM CSWeb - Internet Safety software K.I.S.S. 101 - product reviews made simple Give Internet Safety A Kiss with Keep It Simple Solutions! The manufacturers have brought some very welcome additions into play with CSWeb. Its console is web based (accessible from the Internet only) which has opened the door to more control for the busy parent. Due to the web based console the parent or program manager can view usage from any other computer that has internet access, even if that computer is at the workplace! In addition parents can increase restrictions, even block accessibility from another Internetable computer when violations occur or more control is needed. If there is a

Cyber Sentinel 3.0 product review by K.I.S.S.
Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 11:04PM Cyber Sentinel 3.0 - Internet Safety software K.I.S.S. 101 - product reviews made simple Parents who are concerned about Internet safety for your children or youth Cyber Sentinel (CS) is a good starting point to monitor their surfing habits. As the other products we recommend CS can be operated in visible or stealth mode. In stealth mode CS runs silently in the background. A password controlled console is accessible for the CS manager that is also hidden so no user can locate it without knowing exactly how to operate the system. The Cyber Sentinel (CS) set-up and console are very easy

The need for child safety ripped from the headlines
Thursday, August 24, 2006 at 12:26AM So do we really need to watch so heavily what our children and youth are doing online? The answers are only as far away as the headlines. Did six year old JonBenet Ramsey really get abducted, raped and murdered by John Mark Karr on Christmas Day 1996? The answers will come in time but the undeniable facts will always remain; somebody gained access to JonBenet Ramsey's bedroom late at night somebody abducted JonBenet in her own home somebody brutally murdered JonBenet right in her own home. 2006 marks the Tenth Anniversary of the kidnapping and murder of
KISS on Internet Safety
Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at 10:11PM As a family oriented site it's quite appropriate that Keep It Simple Solutions first GiveItAKiss.com blog post has to do with children. Children and youth are great, aren't they? They fly through life with a careless abandon that can seem worthy of being jealous of at times. However, when it comes to online Internet safety for our children and youth I firmly believe adults must step in to keep children and youth safe while they frolic through their "personal," Internet based "Neverland." I want to respect my children and help them retain as much innocence and have as much fun as possible but the person that could be on the other end of the Internet is anything but innocent and all too often
